Hanuman Jayanti 2018
March 31st, 2018
Please join us for the auspicious occasion of Hanuman Jayanti and the 95th Birthday celebration of our beloved guru, Sri Baba Hari Dass! All are welcome, compliments of the Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple and the Mount Madonna Center (reservations will be required after 11am).
An annual tradition at the Center, the day's events include a kirtan parade, chanting of the Sundar Kanda from the revered epic Ramayana, a fire ceremony (yajña) and a grand feast (bhoj) to close the ceremonies.
While Hanuman is considered to be an immortal deity, his birthday is celebrated on the first full moon of the spring season. Venerated throughout India and much of South East Asia as the embodiment of devotion, strength, and energy, Hanuman is the quintessential karma yogi, abiding in selfless service to the Divine Presence in the form of Lord Ram.
Schedule of Events:
- 6 AM: Arati at Hanuman Temple
- 7 AM: Kirtan Parade around MMC Property
- 8:30 AM: Sundar Kand Recitation
- 11:00 AM: Puja and Yajña (Fire Ceremony)
- 1:00 PM: Bhoj (Feast)
We expect many visitors to attend. If you plan to visit between 11am and 7pm, please note that reservations are required. Reservations are available online only.
